  Belly Dance Class Information

Deniz has been instructing belly dance classes in Lyndhurst, New Jersey for a year. As a Turkish native and dancer, Deniz likes to share her passion of dance with you. In these belly dance classes, you’ll find classic belly dance, Turkish and Egyptian styles as well as meditational belly dance --deeply focused with lots of floor works and yoga moves.

Belly dance classes are quite a work out. You'll sweat a lot at each belly dance class and will not get enough of it! Do not hesitate about the quality of the belly dance classes, read what students have to say about them! You'll see that you'll like Deniz’s belly dance classes.

By learning and doing belly dancing, you have fun; stay fit and get mind-relaxation. If you like different cultures, music and dance, belly dance is perfect for you. Belly dance can be something that you’d like to do for the rest of your life. Belly dancing is a great way to get in shape and keep it without boring and heavy work out. You’ll lose calories as you have fun.

We offer belly dance classes in small, cozy groups. No big groups, no belly dancing among men in gym studios. You can have private and semi-private classes for the price of gym. Students improve pretty fast; learn the basics in a few sessions. After a few months, some students can even perform at our belly dance shows. See the video of our summer 2006 belly dance show.

The classes are $60 per month that includes 4 sessions, one session per week. We provide you CDs, costumes and accessories if you want to. The belly dance classes are for beginners, intermediate or advanced students. We will work on isolated moves, compositions and then choreographies.

The classes will be held at Islerworks Home Studio, Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Weekend morning classes and during the week night classes are available.

The address is 332 Sanford Ave, Lyndhurst NJ, 07071

What is the Belly Dance Classes Schedule?

Mondays and Thursdays 7 pm; beginner and intermediate belly dance classes

Tuesdays 7 pm and Sundays 11 am; intermediate and advanced belly dance classes

What to Wear for Belly Dance Classes?

The best outfit is low cut yoga pants and short tops. If you don’t have these, just wear pants that stretches, absolutely no jeans. Do not worry about the size of your belly, you take belly dance classes to work on it and make it smaller!!

Hip scarf is a very helpful accessory for belly dancing. Hip scarves make your shimmies and hip moves look nicer and you’ll definitely feel better and motivated. You can get hip scarves from our studio when you come in for the classes.

We dance barefoot. No shoes are allowed at the studio. No chewing gums are allowed, either. You need to control your breath while belly dancing and the chewing gum don’t help that at all.

The students can buy Turkishbelly dance costumes with installment payments; ask Deniz for details.

How long will it take a beginner to Belly Dance?

Although it depends on the talent of the student, you do not have to be a born-to-be belly dancer. First of all, you need to be patient and determined to learn how to belly dance. It is important that you listen to your instructor very carefully. If you skip the listening and just try to imitate the instructor, and that may not be very helpful. Listening is essential and then tying to do the moves. Most of the students are not familiar with many of the moves and it takes a while that your body gets it. You shouldn’t give up and try over and over. Practicing the moves in front of the mirror every day, or every other day in between classes will definitely take you to your target quicker.

Fast learners can learn how to belly dance in a couple of months where it may take some students longer. However, you should keep in mind that learning fast is not what counts but being determined and practicing can make you a better belly dancer. If you listen to some very good belly dancers, they will say that they were discouraged at the beginning but they didn’t give up. There is no way that you cannot be a good belly dancer if you dance with passion, with your heart!

Do You Have Concerns About Your Body?

Women of all shapes and sizes can attend Deniz’s classes. You can be slim, chubby, curvy, tall, or small.  Do not feel any kind of pressure that you should look a certain way to be able to attend the belly dance classes.

There cannot be any kind of competition in Deniz’s belly dance classes. Nobody will judge you on your talent or your body shape. By coming to the belly dance classes regularly, you’ll see the difference in your body.

To be honest, you cannot lose weight just by taking belly dance class once a week. But this is a good start; if you practice at home and eat considerably and healthy, you will lose weight.  By taking belly dance classes, within a few months, you can reach your dream size.

Although the name of this dance is “Bellydance”, it has got nothing to do with the size of your belly. Every woman can do this regardless of her shape. So do not get discouraged and join the belly dance classes.
